Mutual Benefit Program
Purpose
The Mutual Benefit Program (MBP) was conceived for the purpose of assisting the members in case of their illness or their family in case of a member’s death.
Membership
Applicable to Class A, B, C and D members
Sources of Funds
The MBP funds are sourced from the Mutual Benefit Contributions from every member of the Cooperative. The contributions are deposited intact in a trust fund – the Mutual Benefit Fund (MBF). The members’ contributions to the MBF are refundable in full, but without interest earnings, upon termination of membership from the Cooperative. Any benefits paid under the MBP are charged against the interest income of the Fund.
Qualifications of Indemnified Member
- Must be a member in good standing with at least twelve (12) months of membership in the Program;
- Must be regular and up-to-date in the payment of his/her Mutual Benefit contributions; and
- Must have a minimum Share Capital of PhP20,000.00.
Coverage and Benefits
- Death of a member - PhP10,000.00;
- Hospitalization except for maternity cases - 50% of the actual hospital/ medical expenses or PhP10,000.00 or whichever is lower; or
- Sickness not requiring hospital confinement but whose amount spent for medication is PhP10,000.00 or more - 50% of the actual hospital/ medical expenses or PhP10,000.00 or whichever is lower; or
- Other procedures not requiring hospital confinement such as lasik surgery or any other similar cases and whose amount spent for medication is PhP10,000.00 or more, a maximum of PhP3,000.00 may be given; or
- Any other cases not covered by this policy is subject for Board Approval.
Filing Period
Filing of application is within thirty (30) working days from the time of sickness or discharge in case of hospital confinement.
Limitation in the Availment of Benefits
• Benefits under the Mutual Benefit Program can be availed only once in every calendar year.
• Benefits will commence after application of any health insurance coverage.
Out-Patient Coverage Under AUFCOOP Mutual Benefit Program
The following are some examples of out-patient procedures requiring minor/major operations or medical treatment not requiring hospital confinement that can be covered by the AUFCOOP Mutual Benefit Program:

□ Suturing
□ Laceration
□ Fracture & Casting
□ Incision & Draining
□ Endoscopy
□ Breast mass
□ Gastroscopy
□ Incision biopsy
□ Cataract extraction hysteroscopy
□ Radioactive Iodine Therapy
□ Chemotherapy
□ Dialysis
□ CT Scan with Contrast
□ X-ray with Contrast
□ Lasik
AUFCOOP members who want to avail of the said benefit may contact the MBP Chairperson for inquiries on the out-patient treatment not listed above. Approval of out-patient treatment is solely on the Board of Directors prerogative.
